About

My Salsa Journey

I began my salsa journey back in 2001, inspired by the vibrant rhythms and stories embedded in this beautiful dance form. Being of Afro-Caribbean descent, I’ve always felt a deep connection with salsa’s diverse roots—an energetic blend of African, Spanish, and Caribbean influences that originated in Cuba.

For me, salsa is more than just steps; it’s a celebration of multiculturalism, connection, and the joy of movement.

But learning salsa wasn’t always easy.

Even when I took classes, I often felt frustrated—not because I lacked ability, but because of how I was being taught. Too many classes were packed with content but lacked structure. I would leave without remembering the steps or understanding how they connected. There was no logical progression from one class to the next, and I saw other students struggle too.

I kept thinking, “This doesn’t need to be so difficult.”

From Struggle to Confidence

When I started dancing again years later, I faced the same challenges—but this time, I taught myself. I visualized the steps, built mental maps, and slowly developed confidence on my own. What made the biggest difference was finding connections between the moves rather than just memorizing patterns.

This approach was heavily shaped by my background: I’ve been designing and teaching educational courses for over 20 years, and I’ve authored several instructional books. Teaching is second nature to me—and I realized that learning dance could be easier, more intuitive, and more enjoyable with the right system.

That’s why I created my own method: a step-by-step system that helps students go from zero to dancing confidently, no matter their experience or rhythm.

My Teaching Philosophy

My approach to teaching is all about creating a space where everyone feels welcome—whether you’re brand new to dance or coming back after a break.

Here’s what I focus on in every class:

  • Inclusivity: Everyone learns differently. I meet students where they are and adapt to their needs.
  • Cultural Openness: Salsa isn’t just a dance—it’s a cultural journey. I share insights into its history and traditions, so you leave with more than just moves.
  • Structure with Freedom: You’ll explore your own style while learning the fundamentals in a clear, progressive way.
  • Confidence-building: We move at a pace that supports your growth, with time to practice and apply what you learn.

Each session includes time for both instruction and social dancing. You’ll leave not just knowing the steps—but feeling them.

What Makes My Teaching Different

  • 🔥 Cultural depth: I’m a French man of Afro-Caribbean descent, bringing rhythm, insight, and authenticity to every class.
  • 🧠 Educational expertise: With over 20 years of experience designing courses and writing instructional materials, I know how to teach so it actually sticks.
  • 💃 Clear, progressive learning: I offer a structured, step-by-step system that builds confidence naturally—even if you’ve never danced before.
  • 😊 Supportive and patient: My classes are relaxed, welcoming, and designed to help you enjoy the process without pressure.
  • 🎥 Full learning experience: I offer more than classes—videos, tips, and ongoing support help you grow between sessions.
